Concerns about Winden’s financial future are growing

The offers from banks regarding a loan are no longer valid. Payments to the sewage treatment plant association have been deferred.

As reported, Winden am See is facing financial challenges. However, there is a growing fear among some that the municipality may not be able to cope with the difficulties. The town wanted to take out a transitional loan in the amount of 420,000 euros. According to ÖVP community leader Lisa Reuter, there were offers from three different banks, all three of which are no longer valid. However, another bank has now submitted an offer.

Payments deferred
The politician is pessimistic: the tax consultant recently said that the municipality would be reliant on external financing from the end of March. In addition, the Reinhaltungsverband Neusiedlersee Westufer has granted the municipality a deferral of payments until June.

Alternative offers
SPÖ mayor Erwin Preiner is reassuring, however: "There is no need to worry. Winden am See will continue to exist in the future as far as the financial and economic sector is concerned. These are challenging times, but the municipality will settle the payments in June. There are also alternative offers from the banks, which are currently being evaluated. He could not say any more. A decision is to be made by the municipal council at the beginning of April.

Meanwhile, Preiner once again urges the ÖVP to stop blocking the provincial municipal package. According to the mayor, Winden would also benefit from the relief.
