Victim resuscitated
Vorarlberg: Ski tourer buried by avalanche
An avalanche occurred in the Silvretta region on Tuesday morning - one person was trapped under the masses of snow but was able to be rescued.
In the Silvretta region, in the area of the Wiesbadener Hütte, a German couple triggered an avalanche on Tuesday morning and were swept away by it. The woman was buried at a depth of around 70 centimetres. The man remained uninjured and was able to locate an avalanche beacon at the avalanche exit. Together with an uninvolved ski tourer, the 46-year-old rescued the woman and began resuscitation measures.
Critical condition
After initial treatment by the rescue team, the 43-year-old was taken by helicopter to the regional hospital in Feldkirch. She is in a critical condition.
There was a strong gust of wind at the scene of the accident at an altitude of 2,400 meters and avalanche warning level 3 was in force.
