Skier (57) fell into a ditch in Tyrol
Serious skiing accident on Sunday afternoon in Tyrol! A German (57) fell off-piste and crashed into a ditch. Colleagues immediately raised the alarm. The man had to be flown to hospital by helicopter.
At around 2 pm, the 57-year-old was skiing from the top station of the Holzalmbahn in Hochfügen (Schwaz district), initially on the red-marked piste towards the bottom station. "At an altitude of around 1800 meters above sea level, he left the organized ski area and continued his journey in the open ski area," the police said.
Injuries to the shoulder
The German skier got into rough terrain, fell, slid over a steep step into a water-bearing ditch and injured his shoulder. Colleagues of the accident victim called the emergency services. The 57-year-old was first treated by the piste rescue team and then rescued by the "Heli 4" rescue helicopter team using a rope and taken to the hospital in Schwaz.
