Climate activists disrupt award ceremony in Saalbach
Last generation climate activists disrupted the award ceremony at the Ski World Cup final in Saalbach-Hinterglemm on Sunday. They scattered confetti and were then carried away by several stewards.
"Protest today in Saalbach-Hinterglemm because the government is still not acting in the face of the escalating climate catastrophe," wrote Last Generation Austria on X on Sunday afternoon. "It's not just ski resorts that are under threat, but the survival of us all. Climate protection in the constitution," the post continues.
Schütter: hold the government accountable
Former ÖSV skier and climate activist Julian Schütter supports the campaign and calls for the government to be held accountable so that "the chance to continue skiing for several more decades" is preserved.
After a few minutes, the award ceremony could continue as planned.
