In Brazil's victory
Goal at Wembley Stadium: jewel makes history
The masses of European soccer fans have known him since Saturday at the latest. With the winning goal in Brazil's 1:0 victory over England in the 80th minute, Selecao youngster Endrick set an age record. According to the statistics service Opta, at 17 years and 246 days, Endrick is the youngest player to score an international goal at Wembley. It was also the future Real Madrid player's first goal for Brazil in the senior national team.
"My family is there, my girlfriend, my agents. I'm not crying much, I'm holding back, but this is something unique and I'm very happy," said the teenager on Saturday evening.
Missed double strike
Endrick could have added to his tally in the closing stages, but missed out on a second goal for the record world champions, who have been flagging of late and gave their new coach Dorival Junior a perfect debut. "It all took a bit out of me - the chance I had at the end, I'm not going to lie," said Endrick. "I was just thinking about scoring. I couldn't think about the game any longer."
Transfer to Real Madrid
Endrick, who will join Real Madrid from Brazilian club Palmeiras at the end of the season, scored nine minutes after coming on as a substitute. Madrid secured Endrick's contract back in December 2022, when he was just 16 years old. According to media reports, the transfer fee is up to 70 million euros. Endrick follows in the footsteps of Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo, who the Madrilenians also acquired at the age of 18.
