Young motorsport driver Charlie Wurz (18) has finished fifth in his fourth Formula 3 race and scored world championship points for the first time. The son of ex-Formula 1 driver Alexander Wurz impressed on Sunday in Melbourne with a strong finish that saw him surge to the front of the field.

The driver from the Swiss team Jenzer started the race from 14th on the grid. On Saturday, he had finished the sprint race in eleventh place.

"The first points feel good. I think we could have finished in the points earlier in the season, because we know we have the pace," said Wurz. "We handled the tires better than anyone else in the sprint, so we knew we would have an advantage over the others." The next races will take place on April 18 and 19 in Imola.
