In the 8th minute of the match, Querfeld was yellow-carded for a tactical foul on Duda, and after 17 minutes, the central defender put his opponent down just outside the penalty area. The referee blew his whistle immediately, but did not give a second caution, which would have been entirely possible.

Wöber sent off to warm up
ÖFB team boss Ralf Rangnick then sent Max Wöber to warm up, apparently toying with the idea of replacing Querfeld earlier than planned in order to protect the red-threatened defender from being sent off. Nevertheless, the 20-year-old was allowed to stay on the pitch.
