Woman killed in crash: Mystery of identity solved

Following the fatal traffic accident on Friday night on Innsbruck's Südring, in which an initially unknown woman was hit by a small truck, the identity of the victim has now been clarified.

The accident occurred on Friday night at around 2.45 am. A 38-year-old local man was driving a van eastbound on Egger-Lienz-Straße when a pedestrian suddenly ran onto the road from the right. 

Woman died in hospital
The woman was thrown onto the adjacent sidewalk by the force of the impact. After being taken to the hospital in Innsbruck, she succumbed to her serious injuries a short time later. As the victim had no papers with her, her identity was initially unclear.

Victim could be identified
However, this has now been clarified. As the police announced on Saturday morning, the victim of the accident is a 42-year-old local woman.
