Innsbruck: Unidentified woman hit by small truck – dead

Terrible accident drama on Friday night in Innsbruck: an unknown female pedestrian was hit and fatally injured by a small truck on the Südring. The identity of the accident victim is still unclear. Investigations are ongoing.

The devastating accident happened at around 2.45 am. A 38-year-old local man was driving a van eastbound on Egger-Lienz-Straße when an unknown female pedestrian suddenly ran onto the road from the right.

The woman was hit head-on by the van and thrown onto the sidewalk by the impact.

"The woman was hit head-on by the small truck and thrown onto the sidewalk by the impact," reported the police. After first aid, the seriously injured woman was taken by ambulance to hospital, where she died at 3.40 am.

Identity unclear, autopsy ordered
The identity of the woman has not yet been established. Investigations into this and the exact course of the accident are still ongoing. The public prosecutor's office in Innsbruck has ordered an autopsy.
