King Charles’ garden waste conquers the catwalk
The fact that King Charles III (75) has a passion for sustainability is now also evident in an unusual exhibition. Garments made from garden waste are on display at his country residence in Sandringham in the east of England. The collaboration between the designer duo Vin+Omi and Charles began after a meeting in 2018.
Charles then invited the designers to his country estate, Highgrove, and gave them the opportunity to look around the garden for materials.
The designers then made a fabric from nettles, for example, and experimented with other species or plant residues as dyes.
26 items of clothing and accessories on display
In the exhibition "Royal Garden Waste To Fashion's Future", 26 items of clothing and accessories will be on display from the weekend. The designers have already shown their designs on the catwalk.
Camilla: "Charles is doing very well"
Charles has been head of the British monarchy for a year and a half and has long been interested in environmental protection. The monarch is currently being treated for cancer and is therefore not attending any public appointments. He is "doing very well", his wife Queen Camilla told PA on Thursday during a visit to Northern Ireland.
