Body of missing German man discovered in Tyrol

A search operation for a missing German man (54) came to a tragic end on Thursday morning. The man's body was found during a search flight in a stream bed in Brixen im Thale (Tyrol).

At around 6.30 pm on Wednesday evening, relatives raised the alarm at the police station in Westendorf and reported that a 54-year-old man had disappeared from his home. "A search operation involving Westendorf Mountain Rescue, the mountain rescue search dog team, the drone of the Kufstein fire department, the Brixen fire department and the police was initiated and interrupted at around 2.30 am without success," according to the police.

Autopsy to clarify cause of death
On Thursday morning, the police helicopter then set off in search of the German. "The man's body was finally found in a steep, rugged terrain in a stream bed in Brixen im Thale," said the police. The body was recovered by police helicopter. An autopsy was ordered.
