More time for people
Carers create a living room for senior citizens
Two caregivers want to relieve relatives with a new service.
Taking even more time for people and responding to their individual needs. Natascha Grader and Elfriede Gruber, who worked in a care home for many years, have made this their mission and have now opened what is probably the only senior citizens' parlor in Carinthia.
The large room is lovingly and thoughtfully furnished. There is a kitchen, tables, comfortable chairs, a reading corner and a play corner. Pensioner Gottfried Radinger is already impressed by the new service and welcomes the "Krone" when they visit the room: "It's lovely here," beams the Obermillstätter, who is grateful to be able to spend a few hours a day with Natascha and Elfi.
Relieving the burden on relatives, bringing joy to senior citizens
"Our parlor is intended to be a meeting place for older people. We want to relieve the burden on relatives when they need some time out or have appointments to attend. Or it could be the pensioners themselves who need a change of scenery, want to socialize or don't want to be alone," explain the carers.
The senior citizens' room on the main square in Seeboden is open from Monday to Friday (8 am to 4 pm). There is half-day or full-day care, breakfast and lunch together from the bistro next door, memory training, creative design and more.
The young entrepreneurs would be delighted to receive support: "We built and financed everything ourselves, and we also received some donations." They are hosting an open day on May 17.
