Vienna police crash into car after chase

On Wednesday evening, there was a serious traffic accident between a police car and two other cars in Vienna-Brigittenau. The officers were chasing a driver who had disregarded the red light.

The incident happened at around 7 p.m. at the Jägerstraße/Pappenheimgasse junction. The police officers noticed a car driver continuing to drive despite the red light and took up the pursuit.

27-year-old drove through the intersection at a green light
However, at the same time, a 27-year-old woman also drove through the intersection in her car and collided with the police car. The violent impact caused the police vehicle to crash into another car driven by a 29-year-old, causing it to tip onto its side.

All those involved injured
The driver of the police vehicle, his two colleagues and the 27-year-old woman were slightly injured in the accident. They were taken to hospital by the Vienna Professional Rescue Service. The cars involved sustained serious damage.
