Field access road mangled car: man and boy injured

Emergency services called out after a serious accident in the Waldviertel region(Bild: FF Schwarzenau)

A serious accident occurred in the Waldviertel region on Wednesday. A 44-year-old driver and his twelve-year-old son left the road on the right, crashed into a concreted field access road and were catapulted back onto the road. 

Alarm for the fire departments in the Waldviertel: on the road between Schwarzenau and Markl (municipality of Windigsteig) there was a serious traffic accident with two casualties on Wednesday. A car had left the road and crashed into a concreted field access road. The front of the car was literally shredded.

After the impact, the vehicle was thrown back onto the road. While first responders were able to help the twelve-year-old boy in the car to get out of the vehicle, the driver was trapped in the vehicle. The fire and rescue services freed the injured man.

After initial treatment by emergency helicopter, both occupants were flown to Krems University Hospital.
