Why the tractors are driving up at Meister Salzburg
Tractor meeting at champions Salzburg? The "Nachspielzeit" column by "Salzburg Krone" editor Christoph Nister reveals what it's all about and which coach demonstrated all his class in training during the international break.
A few weeks ago, the tractors were already driving up to the Bulls training center in Taxham (see picture at the top). In the meantime, an entire field has been "plowed up" and looks more like a field than green. What is it all about? The "Krone" asked the champion.
"High-quality training pitches are just as important as the turf in the Red Bull Arena," replied sports director Bernhard Seonbuchner.
"While the matches in the stadium only take place irregularly, the boys in Taxham are on the pitch almost every day. That's why we attach great importance to good pitch conditions." The turf on pitch 2 was removed and the water was made to run off better. "A new pitch will then be sown, which will take around ten weeks."
Training is currently taking place on their pitches. While ten players are traveling with their national teams and Andreas Ulmer is continuing his coaching training, the remaining squad is being strengthened by Liefering players. Assistant coach Alex Hauser, who is one of 13 participants in the new UEFA Pro License course, is also regularly involved.
And proves that he is still in top shape. During a training exercise, he caused a sensation with a spectacular side-footed goal. When Sekou Koita tried to emulate him and failed, the Tyrolean showed his sense of humor. "I know, I make it look so easy," he told the Malian with a grin.
