The “new Schneider” should be found soon

After four and a half years in charge, Alexander Schneider will be leaving Lustenau at the end of the season. But the Vorarlberg club is already looking around for a successor to the 30-year-old German. According to sporting director Stephan Muxel, several applications for the job have already been received.

The sports coordinator is a very important position, which also forms the link between the club and cooperation partner and investor CSC. He is heavily involved in scouting, transfers and the conclusion of contracts. "We are also in constant contact with our cooperation partner to clarify the right profile," explains Muxel. It looks like the future sports coordinator - like Schneider - will also be financed by CSC. Regardless of whether the team manages to stay in the league or not, Schneider's successor will be introduced in the course of the lower play-offs.

This leaves more time to get to know Austria and its structure. "We know that we are a special club, which of course cannot be compared with Salzburg or Sturm," emphasizes Muxel. One option would be to appoint someone with an Austria past. One interesting name is Armand Benneker, who lives in Vorarlberg but works as a scout for Manchester United. Manfred Pamminger also once played in Lustenau and has now established himself as team manager at RB Salzburg.

"No-name" not a problem for sports director
It is more likely that it will be an unknown name who can make a name for himself in Lustenau. Stephan Muxel could also envisage someone like Alexander Schneider, who quickly settled into the club. "But there's no guarantee that it will work out so well again." Muxel refers to Schneider's predecessor Christian Werner (now working for 1860 Munich), for example, who failed to gain a foothold in Lustenau at all.
