Andrea Iannone spent seven years in the premier motorcycle class before he was banned for four years due to a positive doping test. The Italian now spoke to "WorldSBK.com" about this difficult time.

"My four years without racing ... it was dramatic at the beginning," admitted the 34-year-old. It was difficult for the 2016 Spielberg winner to adapt, as he had lost his entire life. "When you lose everything, you are a little disoriented," said Iannone.

Changed class
"If you have a bad crash, you might have to take a year off. But I had to wait four years." The ban also means the end of the MotoGP class for the 2015 World Championship fifth-placed rider; he now rides in the Superbike World Championship on points and, according to him, has hardly followed the premier class since the ruling.

In the Superbike World Championship, "The Maniac" is back on a Ducati and was able to race straight to the podium at the season opener in Australia. "It's a very special comeback for me and I will never forget this moment and this weekend," said Iannone about his conciliatory return to the bike.
