Pogacar dominates cold mountain finish in Catalonia!
After narrowly missing out on victory in the opening stage, top favorite Tadej Pogacar has won the second stage of the Tour of Catalunya to the mountain finish in the ski resort of Vallter 2000!
The Slovenian took a decisive lead on the eleven-kilometer final climb in the rain and low temperatures on Tuesday. The 25-year-old celebrated his 65th professional victory with a lead of one and a half minutes over Mikel Landa (Soudal) and also took the overall lead ahead of the second-placed Spaniard.
Important leadership work by Großschartner
Pogacar's UAE teammate Felix Großschartner had done important leading work for the top star along the way. Patrick Konrad (Lidl) lost more than three minutes to the winner in 40th place. Another tough mountain stage follows on Wednesday with almost 4000 meters of altitude to overcome.
