Seriously injured in car collision in Eugendorf

There was a serious traffic accident on the Thalgauer Landesstraße early on Tuesday morning: two cars crashed into each other head-on when a man from Hallwang (55) tried to overtake a truck and overlooked an oncoming car. Two people were seriously injured, another slightly.

Two cars collided head-on shortly after six o'clock on the L103 between Neuhofen near Eugendorf and Thalgau when a man from Hallwang (55) tried to overtake a truck in his car. He did not see that a 41-year-old man from Köstendorf was coming towards him. According to the police, both drivers tried to swerve across the adjacent meadow. The small car came to a halt on the cycle path at an angle to the road, while the van skidded across a wet meadow and came to a halt there. Three people, the two drivers from Hallwang (55) and Köstendorf (41) and a passenger (33), were seriously injured. They were taken to the accident hospital and the regional hospital in the city of Salzburg.

According to the police, a breathalyzer test was not possible due to the injuries. The Eugendorf fire department had to free a trapped occupant using hydraulic rescue equipment. Floriani from Thalgau removed any leaking fuel and closed off the L103 completely.

The Red Cross was on site with first responders, two emergency doctors and two ambulances. A total of 60 emergency crews were deployed.
