"Found" with garbage
No registration: Man used German license plates
A German in Rosental? A Villach highway police patrol noticed a vehicle with German license plates in St. Jakob, which they immediately checked.
"During the check, it turned out that the license plates had been reported as lost or stolen," the police report. "However, the vehicle had an inspection sticker with Klagenfurt license plates." This enabled the officers to quickly track down a 34-year-old man from Klagenfurt. "The driver stated that he had found the license plates at his home address in Klagenfurt among garbage cans," the police continued.
Because the Austrian registration of his car had been revoked in December of the previous year, he simply mounted the German license plates. "He was driving on public roads with them," explained the police. "The plates were seized and the man from Klagenfurt will be reported to the public prosecutor's office."
