Bona fide Tyrolean woman
Woman transferred over 10,000 euros to love swindler
As we all know, love is often blind - or, as in this case, gullible: a 55-year-old woman from Innsbruck allowed herself to be ripped off by an unscrupulous love swindler on the internet. The stranger told the woman several lies and tricked her into transferring more than 10,000 euros to foreign accounts.
The 55-year-old from Innsbruck had already been contacted by a stranger on a dating platform in November. As is so often the case in such cases, the contact intensified - and a number of lies were apparently told.
The unknown person was able to trick the 55-year-old into transferring a small amount of money to different foreign accounts almost every day until March 12.
Die Polizei
The local woman fell for the scam. "The unknown person was able to trick the 55-year-old woman into transferring a small amount of money to different foreign accounts almost every day until March 12," reported the police.
Five-figure amount lost
All in all, the Tyrolean woman transferred more than 10,000 euros. All the money is gone - and there is, of course, no trace of the perpetrator. The next time she flirts online, the woman will - hopefully - be more suspicious.
