Parachute Ski World Cup
Graser takes gold – grill haunted by bad luck
Favorite Sebastian Graser took victory at the home World Cup for parachute athletes in St. Johann Alpendorf. Bronze also went to an HSV athlete. Young talent Sophie Grill was unlucky with a bronze medal.
Home victory for Sebastian Graser! The military world champion in parachute target jumping won the Parachute Ski World Cup in St. Johann Alpendorf. With a total of 24 points and a respectable ten-point lead over Italy's Marco Valente, he was able to celebrate a home victory, just like last year. "I'm super happy with the ski races, but as we weren't able to train so much in target jumping this year due to the formation competitions, we naturally lacked the feeling here. But now we're back in target training so that we can be at the top again in the summer," said the 27-year-old, overjoyed at his triumph in front of his home crowd. Bronze went to Manuel Sulzbacher - another HSV athlete.
The big favorite in the women's event was unlucky: Sophie Grill lost a ski in the second ski run. In the end, it was only enough for fourth place.
The junior classification was won by Michael Urban, who came fourth in the men's competition. "Everything went really well this weekend and I'm very happy with my performance, both in jumping and skiing," said Urban, delighted with his junior victory.
With 156 points in the team ranking, Team HSV Red Bull Salzburg l (Sebastian Graser, Michael Urban, Manuel Sulzbacher and Anton Gruber) took victory in St. Johann, just like last year, ahead of the strong Germans (second place with 246 points). Fifth place went to the HSV Red Bull Salzburg ll team (Alexander Schöpf, Michael Löberbauer, Joachim Knauß and Sophie Grill). The HSV Red Bull Salzburg lll team (Kevin Wagner, Christian Irausek and Zoe Janko) jumped to eleventh place.
