Cultural funding for several years possible for the first time
On Monday, the Upper Austrian state government will decide on multi-year cultural funding for the first time. "With this decision, we are guaranteeing planning security for both sides," says Governor Thomas Stelzer. This fulfills a long-cherished wish of the independent scene.
It is a first: for the first time, multi-year cultural funding is to be made possible, and the application is being approved by the provincial government today.
Non-binding commitments for the next three years can be awarded to well-known applicants whose program and budget planning are characterized by continuity. In the pilot project, the Crossing Europe Festival and Kupf - Kulturplattform OÖ will be the first to receive support.
Specifically, the Crossing Europe Festival will be funded for the years 2024, 2025 and 2026 with a total of up to 499,700 euros. The funding for Kupf Upper Austria amounts to up to EUR 370,100 for 2024 and 2025.
Both the cultural platform and the Crossing Europe Festival are fixed components of cultural life in Upper Austria.

Consistent, professional work as a prerequisite
Those institutions that already receive regular annual funding and have demonstrated consistent, coherent budget and program planning over the last few years can apply for funding.
The decision is also proof of our appreciation of cultural work.

Further requirements include a multi-year budget plan and a rough program preview. The commitment is made as a conditional commitment subject to the approval of the Upper Austrian provincial government and the Upper Austrian provincial parliament for the respective budget.
