Senior fell for phone scam: 50,000 euros gone

Any bank robber would be jealous. A criminal scammed 50,000 euros from a 75-year-old man from Bad Goisern with a single phone call. The criminal had pretended to his victim that he was from the local bank and had to reverse an erroneous transfer. . .

A previously unknown crook contacted a 75-year-old man from the district of Gmunden by telephone at around 3 p.m. on March 8 and deceived the victim by stating that a false transfer had been made or that the account had been illegally accessed. 

Perpetrator made several transfers
The 75-year-old then gave the caller his bank access details, whereupon the perpetrator transferred a five-digit euro amount to currently unknown recipients in several transfers.
