Injured in hospital

Three cyclists, three accidents – and a lot of alcohol

Three serious cycling accidents occurred in the Tyrolean lowlands on Thursday. The accidents have similarities. The "pedal riders" crashed through their own fault, they had to be taken to hospital with injuries - and all three were drunk!

Accident number one occurred at around 4 p.m. in Kirchdorf in the district of Kitzbühel: a cyclist (57) crashed through no fault of her own and sustained injuries. After first aid at the scene of the accident, the woman was taken to St. Johann Hospital by ambulance. A breathalyzer test was positive.

More alcohol-related accidents in the evening
A 21-year-old also crashed his bike while drunk in the evening in Reith im Alpbachtal (Kufstein district). He also suffered injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Shortly before 10 p.m., a similar accident happened in Tulfes (Innsbruck-Land district). The 18-year-old injured man had also "filled up" too much.

Charges follow
Both the two young men and the 57-year-old woman now face charges.
