Wish comes true for Philharmonic Orchestra director

Elisabeth Fuchs and her orchestra are expected to move into their own rehearsal facilities for the first time at the end of the year.

The birthday wish of Philharmonie Salzburg director Elisabeth Fuchs has come true. After 25 years, the conductor and her orchestra can now look forward to having their own rehearsal room. Until now, she and her musicians have been accommodated in the Festival's premises, among other places.

Now the orchestra is set to move permanently to the new rehearsal building in Salzburg Nonntal. The City and Province of Salzburg purchased the former "Theater Metropolis" in Nonntaler Hauptstraße at the beginning of February and will now renovate it. The building will be made available to the Philharmonie Salzburg on loan. According to the renovation schedule, the orchestra will be able to move into the new premises at the end of the year.

But there will also be a lot going on outside the rehearsal room in the coming months. In addition to Vivaldi and Strauss, the Beatles are also on the program for the concerts in the Großes Festspielhaus in the 24/25 season. Monika Ballwein and the large choir of the Philharmonie Salzburg will perform the hits of the British band.

In addition to retro, the future is once again high on conductor Lisi Fuchs' agenda, in the form of children's and youth work. The children's festival week in the Salzburgarena will take place again, as will the recorder project. For the third time, wooden recorders and learning booklets are distributed to primary school classes throughout Salzburg.
