Several fires break out near Plansee in Reutte

Fire alarm on Thursday afternoon in the Tyrolean Außerfern! A forest fire broke out along the Höhenweg trail at Plansee - one later turned into several. Several fire departments from the surrounding area were immediately deployed and spent several hours trying to fight the flames.

At around 1 p.m., the sirens were wailing in Breitenwang. A caller had raised the alarm. A forest fire had broken out near the Frauenbrünnele chapel near Reutte for unknown reasons. Suddenly, other fires broke out nearby. The Reutte, Breitenwang, Lechaschau and Höfen fire departments then spent hours trying to bring the fires under control. "An area of around 30,000 square meters is affected," reported the emergency services, "as the terrain there is very impassable, the extinguishing work is difficult."

The Landeck fire department is also deployed with a firefighting drone. "The police helicopters Libelle Tirol and Libelle Vorarlberg are also supporting our fire departments from the air," said the firefighters from Reutte. The operation continued into the evening hours. The Plansee road had to be closed.
