During school enrolment: bus driver prevents accident
Adina Residović certainly never thought that her school journey would be so turbulent. The Bosnian-born driver prevented a tragedy with her quick intervention.
It was 13 February when Adina was traveling with her 61-year-old colleague on a route bus on Pischeldorferstraße in Klagenfurt.
The trained chef had obtained her bus driver's license last September, making her dream come true. A few days later, she started her new job at Postbus Kärnten and accompanied her new colleagues on their journeys as part of their route training.
"Disaster averted!"
Nobody could have expected that her 61-year-old colleague would suffer a heart attack that day - while he was still at the wheel. But without hesitation, the newly qualified bus driver intervened and finally brought the bus, which had continued to drive at unchecked speed, to a halt. "This probably prevented a catastrophe. Nobody was injured!" says the city of Klagenfurt.
"Adina Residović did the right thing at the right time. She reacted immediately and without hesitation. It is important to bring such people to the fore and to highlight this civil courage accordingly," said Mayor Christian Scheider. Residović received the certificate of thanks and recognition from the provincial capital of Klagenfurt for her commitment.
