Brixlegg remains "brain"
Cost pressure: Giesswein relocates 35 production jobs
A restructuring due to high costs eliminates the traditional production in Brixlegg. 35 production jobs will be lost at the site, but redundancies are to be largely avoided.
The workforce of the Tyrolean woollen goods manufacturer Giesswein was informed of "strategic adjustments" last week. In the business world, this often does not bode well when it comes to the future of jobs.
Absorb internally or resolve amicably
But Giesswein wants to reassure people in this regard: It is true that 35 remaining jobs in the Brixlegg production facility will be cut. "But 15 of these colleagues will be transferred to other departments. There will be a maximum of two redundancies. Amicable solutions have been found for the rest," a statement to the "Tiroler Krone" newspaper reads.
There will be a maximum of two redundancies.

Central tasks will remain in Brixlegg
Design, the production of prototypes and materials management will remain in the Unterland market town. Some production will continue to be carried out on a contract basis in Austria. Other tasks, such as the assembly of individual parts like fabric, soles and accessories, have already been carried out in factories in Vietnam and China.
The Tyrolean textile company's current sales guarantors are the "Merino Runners" and the slippers that have been in demand for decades.
Lots of regulations and cost cutting as a motive
Giesswein cites "current challenges" as the reason for the restructuring. These include increasing EU regulations and rising administrative, energy and wage costs. Despite these changes, the Tyrolean family business promises that its commitment to quality and innovation will remain unchanged.
130 employees remain in Brixlegg
130 highly qualified employees will continue to ensure the best products, service and delivery at the Brixlegg site. Brixlegg will therefore remain the "brain" of the company. With an increased focus on e-commerce and design, the aim is to ensure long-term success.
