12 miners killed in 2 accidents in China

At least twelve miners have died in two mining accidents in China within one day. Four more workers were still missing, as the state news agency Xinhua reported on Tuesday. 

The first of the two accidents occurred at around 12.00 noon on Monday in a coal mine in the eastern Chinese province of Anhui. Seven people were killed in a gas explosion there, Xinhua reported.

Two miners still missing in second accident
The explosion occurred in a coal mine when 24 miners were working in the shaft. Two miners were still missing. According to the state agency, the second accident occurred late on Monday evening in the northern Chinese province of Shanxi, where five miners were killed by the collapse of a storage facility in a coal shaft. Two workers were also still missing there.

In China, there are always serious accidents in mines with many fatalities. Poor safety measures are often behind this
