Bombardment from Ukraine
Drone attack on fuel depot and refinery
A fuel depot in the western Russian city of Oryol, south of Moscow, has been set on fire in a Ukrainian drone attack. In the Nizhny Novgorod region east of Moscow, a refinery belonging to the oil company Lukoil is on fire following a drone attack (see video above).
The emergency services are trying to contain the fire, explained regional governor Andrey Klitschkov on Tuesday night. "There were no casualties." Work at the plant has been temporarily suspended due to an "incident", the Russian state news agency RIA reported, citing the oil company.
RIA Novosti reported, citing a representative of the emergency services, that a reservoir containing petroleum products had caught fire in Oryol. Oryol is located around 160 kilometers from the border with Ukraine.
Further drone attacks by Ukraine
According to Russian reports, Ukraine also carried out further drone attacks on targets in Russia on Tuesday night. Drones dropped four explosive devices in the Russian border region of Belgorod, explained the governor there, Vyacheslav Gladkov. There were no casualties, but a power line was damaged.
According to Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, air defence units shot down a Ukrainian drone over the Russian capital Moscow. There were no casualties or damage from falling debris in the affected district of Ramensky, Sobyanin announced on Telegram.
Drones continue to advance into Russia
Since the beginning of the Russian offensive against Ukraine more than two years ago, the Ukrainian armed forces have succeeded in penetrating deeper and deeper into Russian territory with their drones. Russia is also deploying numerous drones.
