First tour over
Hödlmoser: “It’s really hard to ride”
Last fall, talented mountain biker Dominik Hödlmoser switched to the road. In Croatia, the Plainfeld native completed his first races with his Felt Felbermayr team and experienced the high level of competition on the road. He really enjoys it, but still needs time to get used to it.
The 2024 cycling season has really kicked off for the Felt Felbermayr team from Wels. On board: former mountain biker Dominik Hödlmoser. After two one-day races in the Croatian resorts of Umag and Porec, the Plainfeld native took part in his first tour in Istria from Thursday to Sunday.
However, the 18-year-old had to drop out on Sunday: "I just couldn't do any more." Because the difference in stress between road races and cross-country competitions is huge: "After the race, you have to recover quickly so that you can deliver a full performance the next day." But basically he was enthusiastic. Switching to the road was definitely the right decision. "I learned something and was also able to help the team sometimes," said Hödlmoser happily.
From now on, the aim is to build on his performance and get more involved in training: "I have to do more so that I can contribute more. The team is great, the riding is cool!" Now, however, the school chair awaits again instead of the bike saddle.
