Stalking terror: “Even the children are scared!”

"I'll kill you! If I can't have you, nobody should have you!" A 34-year-old man is said to have made this dangerous promise to his ex-girlfriend. He also choked and kicked her and terrorized her family and friends with numerous phone calls and messages. A stalking horror.

"The children in the estate were already very scared and no longer dared to play outside," a witness told the court in Graz on Monday. The young man is said to have been massively stalked by the accused. Also indirectly, in that the 34-year-old instructed an acquaintance to send messages to his "ex's" new boyfriend.

"I also got calls in a continuous loop. It rang every minute," says the Styrian. "And once when I was getting cigarettes, he suddenly stood next to me and wanted to talk." It really wasn't funny.

The children on the estate were scared. They no longer dared to play.

But the 34-year-old didn't just stop at talking. In order to persuade his girlfriend to return to him, he kicked and choked her and shouted at her: "I'll kill you. If I can't have you, no one else will." 

No choking, just a kick
The accused, who had actually denied everything up to that point, suddenly confessed a little. "To a kick", explained his defense lawyer. "Is that all?" asks judge Michaela Lapanje. "No, nothing else. I didn't choke her and I didn't threaten her!" says the Styrian. However, the violent offender, who has several previous convictions, is in pre-trial detention due to the danger of committing the crime.

Mother incited to make a false statement
His defense attorney wants to change that at the end and requests his release. "The criminal acts are no longer in proportion to the pre-trial detention!" - "I have a job and a farm and people in need of care at home," the defendant interjects. But the judge refuses: "You incited your mother to make a false statement while she was still in custody." There is probably nothing more to say. It was adjourned.

Brother also a victim of stalking
Incidentally, the brother of the "ex" is also a victim of the insane stalking terror in another trial at the Regional Criminal Court in Graz. The accused also wrote him countless messages and kept the phone ringing off the hook. In the meantime, the Styrian had even broken off contact with his sister because he could no longer stand it.
