Several cars rammed
Porsche stops “ghost ride” of driverless bus
Spectacular scenes unfolded on Monday morning in the Zillertal valley in Tyrol: a driverless bus started rolling, hit several vehicles and ultimately a Porsche in a parking lot, which finally stopped the vehicle weighing several tons. Luckily, nobody was injured.
The dangerous incident occurred in Fügen at around 10 a.m. on Monday. As the police explained in response to a Krone inquiry, the driverless public service bus may have suddenly started rolling. The vehicle, which weighed several tons, rolled straight into a parking lot. It grazed and damaged several cars and was ultimately stopped by a Porsche.
Several cars were damaged, some of them severely. The bus itself literally "parked" on the sports car - one wheel was in the air. According to the police, it was a huge stroke of luck that no one was injured.
Presumably a technical defect
The bus probably started rolling due to a technical defect. Investigations into the exact cause of the accident are ongoing.
