An initially unknown Dutch holidaymaker caused quite a stir in the Tyrolean winter sports resort of Sölden last week. The man is said to have beaten up a Turkish man (21) in a bar and then fled. In the course of the investigation, compatriots claimed that the suspect had already left. An outright lie!

The attack had already taken place last Tuesday. An initially unknown perpetrator punched the 21-year-old Turkish man in the face, presumably because he had been expelled from the premises. The victim suffered serious injuries. The thug fled the scene after the attack.

Witnesses told tall tales
In the course of extensive investigations by officers from the Sölden police station, witnesses to the crime were finally identified. "The two Dutchmen stated that the suspect had already traveled home", according to the police.

The man finally admitted to the assault.

Die Ermittler

However, this turned out to be a false statement: the investigators were able to unmask and question the alleged batterer - a 31-year-old Dutchman. "The man finally admitted to the assault."

Dutch trio charged
The suspect and the two other Dutchmen (27), who finally admitted to making the false statement, will be reported to the public prosecutor's office in Innsbruck.
