Skier crashed into group of children and fled
Serious skiing accident on Saturday morning in Sölden, Tyrol! A previously unknown man crashed his skis into a group of ski school children on a red slope. Two children (6 and 9 years old) were injured. The police are now looking for witnesses.
It was around 9.20 a.m. when a collision occurred in the Sölden ski area on red marked piste no. 4. A group of ski school children had stopped on the slope around 100 to 200 meters above the "Gratlift mountain station" at a snow cannon when the previously unknown skier, sliding down the slope on his back, collided with three children.
Skied off without helping
"One of the children, a six-year-old Austrian girl, suffered a broken arm, a nine-year-old pupil suffered a bruise and one child was uninjured," said the police. The unknown skier said something to the group in a Dutch accent, but immediately put his skis back on and left the scene of the accident without looking after the children or leaving his details.
Police are appealing for information
The unknown man is around 40 to 50 years old, around 1.80 meters tall and was wearing black ski trousers and a black anorak. Witnesses to the accident or the fleeing skier are asked to contact the police station in Sölden (Tel. 059133/7108).
