Serious skiing accident in open terrain in Tyrol on Sunday morning! A 68-year-old man fell more than 15 meters over a ledge. The rescue was extremely difficult due to the foehn storm.
At around 10.20 a.m., the Tyrol control center received a report of a skier falling in open ski terrain in the Kreuzjochkogel area in Kühtai. "The rescue of the casualty, a 68-year-old Austrian, by the rescue helicopter had to be interrupted due to the Föhn storm," said the police.
Flown to Innsbruck clinic
The Sellrain mountain rescue team was then alerted. At around 12.30 pm, the seriously injured man was finally rescued by rescue helicopter and flown to Innsbruck Hospital. "According to the findings so far, the man probably slipped on the descent, subsequently fell over a ledge and fell more than 15 meters through steep rocky terrain," said the executive.
