“Childcare must be more flexible for parents”

Parents have to specify exact days of childcare a year in advance! This makes parents' representatives shake their heads. 

Working mothers and fathers know only too well what it's like when work and family life can't be reconciled. The Carinthia Parents' Association is therefore calling for more flexible childcare options.

"It is unacceptable that parents often have to register for childcare a year in advance and even have to know the exact days on which they need childcare," the representatives of the parents' association shake their heads: "In sectors such as care, employees often don't even know the duty roster for the next two weeks. Better planning is needed here!"

Full-day care required
Another wish of the parents would be to offer childcare from morning to evening every day. "This would allow parents to work longer and therefore have less stress."

Parents dissatisfied according to survey
A recent survey by the Chamber of Commerce revealed just how dissatisfied Carinthia's moms and dads are in this regard.

An alarming wake-up call for Team Carinthia boss Gerhard Köfer: "High-quality childcare ensures that our province also becomes more attractive as a place to work and live and thus attracts new workers. We are still a long way from our dream of being the most child- and family-friendly province," says Köfer.
