More ski enthusiasts than ever before came to the traditional "Krone" and KitzSki ski day on the Hahnenkamm on Sunday. Fritz Strobl, course record holder on the Streif, showed the guests the most challenging sections of the world's most famous downhill run.

The foehn storm, which also swept across the Kitzbühel Alps, did not upset the KitzSki team led by the two board members Anton Bodner and Christian Wörister. Flexibility was required, as the ascent on the Hahnenkamm cable car was not possible due to the wind. So the ski day participants took the Fleckalmbahn cable car up the mountain. Fritz Strobl, two-time Streif winner and course record holder, was already waiting there for the guests. And Christian Wörister was delighted to receive 300 redeemed "Krone" coupons early in the morning, which gave a 50 percent discount on a ski pass. In total, around 750 participants were counted - a record!

Keyword "record": Who better to explain the most spectacular descent in the world to ski enthusiasts than course record holder Fritz Strobl. He led the ski fans over to the starting house of the Streif. Acceleration from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour within six seconds, the steepest section with a gradient of 85 percent in the Mausefalle - these hard facts about the world's most famous downhill run took the breath away of many listeners. But then it really got down to business: Strobl approached the Mausefalle with the ski enthusiasts. When they looked over the edge, many were amazed. No one dared to ski the passage - they preferred the easy "detour turn".

Stories from the past
Due to the Austrian school championships, the Streif was closed from the U-Hakerl onwards. Nevertheless, Fritz Strobl's accounts on site were still very revealing. Long-time race director Peter Obernauer also had some stories to tell.

The foehn was no spoilsport
Afterwards, free skiing in the ski area did us good. Those who were not traveling with Strobl had meanwhile spread out on the countless slopes. The participants of the "Krone" ski day then enjoyed culinary delights at greatly reduced prices in the Pengelstein restaurant. Afterwards, it was back to the slopes - the föhn wind did nothing to dampen the fun.
