Girl (8) falls 25 meters while skiing

A fatal alpine accident on Sunday morning in the Tyrolean Oberland: an eight-year-old girl from Latvia was seriously injured while skiing in the See ski area in Paznaun (Landeck district). The child had lost control and overshot the edge of the piste.

The holidaymaker girl was skiing with her family - the serious accident occurred at around 10 am. According to the police, the eight-year-old lost control of her skis on the red marked slope number 1 and subsequently skied down  the 25-degree slope.

"At the end of the slope, the girl went over the edge of the slope and fell around 20 to 25 meters over a steep embankment," reported the police. The eight-year-old ended up lying injured. 

To hospital by helicopter
She was first treated on the spot by the piste rescue team and then flown to Zams Hospital by rescue helicopter.
