White powder on nose: man attacked police officers

A strong hairdryer, a waste container and a car: these "ingredients" led to a police operation in Innsbruck late on Saturday afternoon. In the course of this, the officers also came across the owner, who - as it turned out - had stashed drugs in his car. He apparently also had residue on his nose. In the end, the situation escalated.

A foehn storm has been raging in Innsbruck for days. This is also likely to have triggered the incident. At around 4.30 pm, the police received a report that a waste container had rolled against a parked vehicle on Grabenweg in Innsbruck . 

Suspect admitted possession of drugs
After a patrol arrived at the vehicle, the driver, a 27-year-old Austrian, also came along. "The officers saw the remains of a white powder on the man's nostrils," said the investigators.

When the police wanted to search the 27-year-old's vehicle, the man attacked the officers.

When asked, the local man stated that he had narcotics in his vehicle. "The man refused to be taken to the medical officer. His driving license was taken from him," the investigators continued. And finally things escalated: "When the police officers wanted to search the 27-year-old's vehicle, the man attacked the officers." 

Police officers injured by punches and kicks
The suspect was eventually arrested. Two police officers were injured by kicks and punches. The 27-year-old also suffered minor injuries during the arrest. Appropriate charges will be filed once the investigation is complete.
