A skier was heavily intoxicated on a piste in Nassfeld (Carinthia) on Saturday night when he alerted the mountain rescue service after falling several times and becoming exhausted. A search operation was launched for the 23-year-old. 

The 23-year-old from the district of Hermagor skied downhill from an inn located next to a piste in the Nassfeld ski area at around 9 p.m. on Saturday in an - according to the police - obviously heavily intoxicated state. Skiing had of course already stopped at this time and the slopes had already been groomed with snow groomers.

During the descent, the heavily intoxicated winter sports enthusiast fell several times, injuring his right leg. "At around 10 p.m., he alerted the mountain rescue service due to his exhaustion and injury," according to the police. The Alpine Rescue Team immediately launched a search for the injured man along the piste. However, he had already made his way to a house on the edge of the slope. 

The local resident informed the rescue services, which is why the operation was eventually called off. The 23-year-old was taken to Villach LKH. He was reported to the police.
