Austria’s women better than ever in the relay
Austria's biathlon ladies made a big impression in the relay in Soldier Hollow on Saturday. With fourth place, Lisa Hauser, Lea Rothschopf, Anna Juppe and Anna Gandler achieved the best result in ÖSV history.
Norway won ahead of Germany (+17.2 sec.) and Sweden (+42.0).
In the last relay race of the winter, the Austrians were 1:36 minutes behind Norway after 4 x 6 km and were therefore nowhere near the podium. The fact that they finished fourth was also due to two penalties for the Czech women after the last shooting.
Rothschopf's relay debut
As a result, Gandler, who had already finished sixth in the sprint the day before, passed her rival without missing a shot and skillfully managed her lead. Hauser had reloaded once, relay debutant Rothschopf and Juppe twice each. With Julia Kink as the final skier, the Germans also had a debutant.
Women, relay (4 x 6 km):
1st Norway 1:04:15.5 hrs (0 penalties + 5 reloads)
2nd Germany +17.2 sec (0+7)
3rd Sweden +42.0 (0+10)
4th Austria (Lisa Hauser, Lea Rothschopf, Anna Juppe, Anna Gandler) +1:36.0 min (0+5)
Final relay World Cup standings after 5 races:
1. Norway 376 points
2nd Sweden 345
3. France 325
Next:
8th Austria 187
