Lost her footing: climber (29) falls in Tyrol
Alpine accident on Friday in the Tyrolean lowlands: a 29-year-old German woman lost her footing while climbing in Kössen (Kitzbühel district) and fell several meters into the rope. Her companion was eventually able to break the fall - but the woman suffered a serious injury.
On Friday morning, the two Germans, a man (37) and a 29-year-old woman from Rosenheim, were on a tour together in the "Klobenstein" climbing garden in Kössen. "When the climber reached the belay station at the end of the 'Erdbeerweg' tour at around 12 noon and wanted to insert the rope into the carabiner, she suddenly lost her grip," reported the police.
Companion was able to break her fall
The 29-year-old then fell around four meters into the last intermediate belay before her rope partner was able to break her fall. "During the fall, however, the woman hit her left foot against a ledge.She suffered a broken ankle as a result," the investigators continued.
The injured woman was first treated on site and then flown to Rosenheim Hospital by the emergency helicopter.
