Bottom side Austria Lustenau have regained hope in the relegation battle in the Bundesliga with their first home win of the season. The Vorarlberg side won 2:0 (0:0) against promoted team Blau-Weiß Linz in front of 3,607 spectators in Bregenz at the end of the basic round on Sunday. Thanks to goals from Anderson (60') and Leo Mikic (91'), coach Andreas Heraf's team are now just two points behind WSG Tirol after the points were shared.

The previously winless Lustenau side celebrated their second win of the season under new coach Heraf, while Gerald Scheiblehner's Linz side missed out on a better starting position for the final ten rounds of the qualifying group. The Upper Austrians, who were without a win for the eighth time in a row, are four points ahead of Lustenau after the halving, but the Linzers will move up if the points are tied.

Pius Grabher was missing for Lustenau on Sunday after his red card in the 1-1 draw at Rapid, while Paul Mensah was suspended through yellow card for Linz. In rainy conditions at the alternative stadium in Bregenz, the visitors controlled the game in the early stages. It took 14 minutes before BW striker Ronivaldo had a great chance to take the lead: However, the striker just failed to put a header from five meters into the empty goal. A short time later, Lustenau goalkeeper Domenik Schierl saved a long-range shot from Marco Krainz (22').

Rainy battle
The Scheiblehner eleven had the better chances in what was by now heavy rain. A blind backpass from Matthias Maak into his own penalty area was intercepted by Simon Seidl, but the brother of Rapid player Matthias Seidl shot the ball over from a completely free position (30'). After the break, Yadaly Diaby (48') created the most dangerous chance for Lustenau, who came out of the break in a much more offensive mood. After an hour, Anderson charged onto a corner kick and headed the ball into the lead from five meters, with BW goalkeeper Nicolas Schmid slipping the ball through his hands.

The lead was justifiable, Schmid prevented a Diaby shot from an acute angle from going further behind (73') for Linz. At the other end, Schierl saved a dangerous header (79'), then Manuel Maranda stumbled from close range (80'). Lustenau now defended with all outfield players and even added to their tally in stoppage time. "Joker" Mikic made a solo run towards goal after receiving a through pass, curved around Schmid and easily scored the final goal.
