Sam Neill: Embarrassing memory of evening with Diana

To wrinkle his nose. He will never forget the day he met Princess Diana in person - as one of the most embarrassing of his life. 

Sam Neill revealed on the TV program "Today" how he was embarrassed to death at the premiere of "Jurassic Park" in London because a cloud of farts coming from his seat surrounded the Princess of Hearts.

It was actually a dream come true for the New Zealand actor: "I was very lucky that Princess Di was seated right next to me."

On his other side in the Premiere movie theater sat his 10-year-old son, whose digestive system reacted to the dinos with constant flatulence.

"Not loud, but powerful"
The 76-year-old remembers with horror: "After 45 minutes, he started farting incessantly. The farts weren't very loud, but they were very, very smelly."

The problem was that the draught from the air conditioning came from his son's side - and the stench was directed towards his blue-blooded nose.

Son hates story
The star would have loved to be eaten by a T-rex out of shame: "I'm sitting there in a tuxedo with a bow tie and I think the princess will believe that the smell is coming from me and not from this little boy next to me."

As a good father, he naturally didn't tell on his son. Neill's revenge, however, is that he is reluctant to tell the fart story - so far only among friends: "My son hates it when I spread this absolutely true story. He's grown up now ... but I'll never take him to a premiere again!"
