Striker scores again
VfL Bochum against SC Freiburg from 3.30 pm LIVE
After scoring the decisive goal in Freiburg's 1-0 win over West Ham, Michael Gregoritsch also got on the scoresheet on Sunday. The ÖFB striker scored in the 2:1 win against Bochum to make it 2:0.
This time not in the joker role, but once again the match-winner: Michael Gregoritsch led SC Freiburg to a 2:1 win at VfL Bochum in the German Bundesliga on Sunday. The Styrian set up Maximilian Eggestein's opener (37') with his head and also scored the winner (53'). It was the ÖFB team striker's tenth competitive goal in his 32nd game of the season. He had also scored recently in the 1-0 Europa League win over West Ham.
Assist and goal
He scored late in the game against the English side ten minutes after coming on as a substitute. As a reward, Gregoritsch was once again allowed to start in the league and repaid the trust with a strong performance. At 0:1, he laid the ball off ideally to Eggestein, who finished from close range. At 0:2, it was he himself who scored from around five meters after Doan's cross into the corner. Gregoritsch, who was substituted in the 75th minute, has now scored five times in the league and five times in the European Cup.
"A lot of pressure has been lifted. The self-confidence in the Bundesliga is not too great, and fitness is not always over one hundred percent. In that respect, we're very, very happy that we somehow managed to get through it. A win like this is also extremely important for morale," said Gregoritsch.
On the other side, there was a partial victory for Kevin Stöger, who set up Ivan Ordets' headed goal (62') with an ideal corner. It was the 30-year-old's 12th scoring point and, in addition to five goals, he has seven assists to his name. His team lost for the third time in a row and are 15th in the table after the 25th round, just seven points off the relegation places. Freiburg, with Junior Adamu on the bench and Philipp Lienhart still missing through injury, are eighth at the end of their six-game winless run in the league.
