Before the direct duel
Liverpool star attacks ManCity, Haaland counters
Liverpool FC welcome Manchester City on Sunday (4.45 pm) for the top match in the Premier League. Ahead of the summit clash, "Reds" defender Trent Alexander-Arnold stirred up the atmosphere with a verbal attack. Erling Haaland countered: "I don't know if he knows this feeling."
Alexander-Arnold told FourFourTwo that although City had won more titles than Liverpool in the recent past, the Reds and their fans would probably appreciate the trophies they had won more. Also because the "Skyblues" have financially strong patrons in the form of sheikhs in the background. "We're dealing with a machine that was built to win - that's the simplest way to describe City and their organization. When we look back on that era, they may have won more titles than us and were probably more successful, but our trophies will mean more to us and our fans," said Alexander-Arnold.
The 25-year-old added: "The way both clubs built their teams and the way we did it probably means more to our fans."
Haaland: Triple victory "a nice feeling"
Haaland countered on Sky: "He can talk all he wants. I don't know why he does that. But I don't care either. I've been here for a year and won the treble. That was a pretty nice feeling for me. I don't know if he knows that feeling so well ..." Rumms!
Three-way battle for the title
The battle for the league title is shaping up to be an exciting three-way fight. Liverpool are one point ahead of Man City and two points ahead of Arsenal. The Gunners have to play Brentford at home this weekend.
