No farewell race
Cancellation brings Olympic champion’s career to an end
Olympic champion Giuliano Razzoli is hanging up his skis! The cancellation of the slalom in Kranjska Gora has put an immediate end to the 39-year-old Italian's career.
Razzoli actually wanted to compete in one last race in the World Cup next weekend in Kranjska Gora. But the weather threw a spanner in the works. Extremely heavy rain completely destroyed the course and the race in Slovenia was canceled.
This put an immediate end to the career of the former skiing hero from Italy. He had made himself immortal in his home country 14 years ago: Razzoli won the gold medal in the slalom at the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver. In addition to the Olympic triumph, he also won two World Cups (Zagreb 2010, Lenzerheide 2011) and a total of eleven podium places.
Fatherly joys
Now he can devote himself fully to his family: At the end of December, Razzoli announced that he and his wife Elisa are to become parents for the first time.
