On Thursday afternoon, the St. Margarethen (Lungau) fire department was called out to extinguish a fire in a room. The cause was forgotten cooking utensils that had been left on the stove and led to heavy smoke development.
However, an attentive resident acted with lightning speed and prevented the worst from happening. When she noticed the smoke, she immediately alerted the fire department and took the saucepan out of the house. Her courageous actions effectively prevented a possible fire in the room.
The St. Margarethen fire department was able to check the affected area and, after successful pressure ventilation, hand it over to the owners smoke-free. A total of 13 members of the St. Margarethen fire department were deployed. The Red Cross was on site with two vehicles and the police with one vehicle to support the situation. Fortunately, no one was injured and the damage was limited.
